The Antelope Valley
 Association of Realtors awarded $25,000 scholarships to 18 young men and women.

The scholarships were presented at an ice cream social July 18 at the Antelope Valley Inn.

, so GAVAR not only wanted to give them a financial boost, but reward them with a celebratory party as well,'' said Pamela Vose, the association's chief executive officer.

This was the fourth year for the scholarship program, which since its inception has given nearly $100,000 to students with relatives in the association.

Scholarships of $3,000 each went to Ashley Leon and John O'Connor John O'Connor can refer to a number of people:

  • John Joseph O'Connor (1920-2000), American cardinal

Scholarships of $2,500 each went to James Brooks James Brooks may refer to:

 and Jeffrey Galli.

Fourteen scholarships of $1,000 each went to Ashlie Carter, Michael Eckman, Joshua Elliot, John Andrew Foss, Felicia Gutierrez, Michelle Healy, Jeffrey Herrera, Elizabeth A. Holland, Jeremy Kleidosty, Christopher Murphy, Cory Nations, Natalie Schaffer, Fatima M. Shanjani and Aaron Stickel.

 received one of 18 scholarships given out by the Greater Antelope Valley Association of Realtorson Tuesday night at an ice cream social at the Antelope Valley Inn convention center. Leon, shown here with GAVAR board President Ed Lumen, will attend the University of California, Los Angeles UCLA comprises the College of Letters and Science (the primary undergraduate college), seven professional schools, and five professional Health Science schools. Since 2001, UCLA has enrolled over 33,000 total students, and that number is steadily rising.  to study biology and take some pre-med courses. Leon received a $3,000 scholarship. GAVAR has given a total of $92,000 in scholarships in the past five years.
