BONNIE F. GUITON ELECTED TO LOUISIANA-PACIFIC CORP. BOARD

 PORTLAND, Ore., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Louisiana-Pacific's (L-P) (NYSE: LPX) board of directors has elected Bonnie F. Guiton to a position on L-P's board effective April 1, the company announced. Guiton is dean of the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
 Prior to joining the McIntire School of Commerce in 1992, Guiton was a member of Pete Wilson's cabinet in California, serving as Secretary of the State and Consumer Services Agency. She has also served on the national level as Special Advisor for Consumer Affairs and Director of the U.S. Office of Consumer Affairs during the administration of President Bush. For President Reagan, Guiton served as Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of Education and Vice-Chair of the U.S. Postal Rate Commission.
 Before her government service, Guiton was a vice president of Kaiser Center Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp.
 Guiton received a bachelor's degree from Mills College in 1974, a master's degree in educational psychology from California State University at Hayward in 1975 and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of California at Berkeley in 1985. She has received numerous honors and awards including the Directors Choice Award from the National Women's Economic Alliance Foundation; the YWCA's Tribute to Women in International Industry Award; and the CANDACE Award from the National Coalition of 100 Black Women. She currently serves on the boards of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., the RREEF Funds' Real Estate Investment Trust, Mills College, and the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation.
