BOMB SUSPECT HELD.

CANYON COUNTRY - An 18-year-old Canyon Country man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an explosive device after sheriff's deputies found a homemade bomb at his apartment, officials said Friday.

Alexander Tater was being held at the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. A 911 hang-up call stemming from a domestic disturbance led deputies to Tater's apartment about 10 p.m. Thursday, said sheriff's Sgt. Russell Brown Russell Leslie Brown (born September 17, 1951) is a Scottish Labour Party politician. He is Member of Parliament for Dumfries and Galloway.

Russell Brown was born in Annan, Scotland, and attended the local Annan Academy.

``Deputies found a plastic bottle filled with gunpowder gunpowder, explosive mixture; its most common formula, called "black powder," is a combination of saltpeter, sulfur, and carbon in the form of charcoal. Historically, the relative amounts of the components have varied.  and pellets with a wick coming out the top,'' Brown said. ``Deputies then dismantled it and rendered it safe.''

Eight apartments in the complex at 27331 Fahren Court were evacuated while deputies dismantled the device, officials said.
