The scoop: Cowboys coach Larry Mohr was pleased with his team's 23-13 victory over Camarillo last Friday but still has questions to answer on the defensive side. Canyon gave up big chunks of yards in third-and-long situations.

On offense, running back Drew Welch rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown to lead a run-based attack. The Cowboys managed only 50 yards passing and balance will be a priority in Week 2.
