BOGUS WATER STAFF ROBBING OLD PEOPLE.

Byline: PAT FLANAGAN John Patrick "Pat" Flanagan (born 1891 in Preston, Lancashire) was an English footballer.

An inside forward, Flanagan played youth football for Stourbridge before joining Norwich City in 1908, before moving to Fulham in 1909.

TWO thieves posing as council workers are robbing the elderly in the west.

Gardai in Galway say the pair have been getting into old people's houses People's Houses (Turkish: Halk Evleri) is the institution established in 1932, founded on Atatürk's ideas, which was developed to give formal education to adults (Adult education) in Turkey.  by claiming to be water officials from the city council.

They tell the pensioners there is a problem with the water supply and they have to turn off the mains in the house.

The men spend about 30 minutes in the homes, and while one carries out the disconnection and distracts the house owner the other searches for valuables and steals them.

Gardai at Mill Street station yesterday warned householders to be aware of the scam and issued a description of the men.

One of them is described as being short and in his early 20s with short dark hair.

The other is tall, well-built and in his early 30s with sallow sal·low

Gardai in neighbouring Mayo have also warned the public - especially the elderly - to beware of cowboy tradesmen who offer to clean gutters or do other repair jobs around the house.

Chief Supt John Carey warned pensioners not to deal with tradesmen they don't know and not to accompany them to a bank to pay them.

It is not known if the incidents in Galway and Mayo are related.
