BOEING EXECUTIVE B. DAN PINICK NAMED U.S. SAVINGS BONDS VOLUNTEER
CHAIRMAN FOR 1992 PUGET SOUND AREA CAMPAIGN
SEATTLE, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- B. Dan Pinick, Boeing Defense & Space Group president, has been appointed volunteer chairman for the 1992 Puget Sound Area U.S. Savings Bonds campaign by Nicholas F. Brady, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, the Boeing Defense & Space Group announced today.
Pinick will kick off the campaign Thursday, Feb. 20, at a meeting of Puget Sound's top business, political and education leaders. Gov. Booth Gardner will be keynote speaker.
Gardner and Pinick will ask the community leaders to encourage employees to support the savings bonds campaign as a means to help finance the nation's public debt.
"Our government is dependent on its citizens to help finance the national debt," Pinick said. "Savings bonds are one of the most competitive and safest sources for doing that.
"U.S. Savings Bonds are a good investment. They currently are out- performing the yields on one- to three-year certificates for the first six months you hold a bond.
"Investing in bonds is good for individuals and good for America. They're a great way to finance a college education or retirement," Pinick said.
The goal of the 1992 campaign is to encourage 30,000 Puget Sound employees to either sign up for savings bonds for the first time or to increase their investment in Bonds.
MEDIA ADVISORY: News media representatives are invited to the campaign kickoff breakfast to hear Pinick and Gov. Gardner at 8 a.m., Feb. 20, at the Seattle Sheraton Hotel and Towers, 1400 Sixth Ave., in downtown Seattle. Those wishing to attend should make reservations with Marla Christiansen at 206-773-0530 by Feb. 18.
