BOEING COMPLETES PURCHASE OF GLASGOW AIR FORCE BASE
SEATTLE, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) announced today it has completed the purchase of 4,200 acres of the former Glasgow Air Force Base in Montana from Valley County, Mont.
Under terms of the purchase agreement, a Boeing subsidiary, Montana Aviation Research Co. (MARCo) will own and operate the property, including the air field and a water pipeline that runs 27 miles from Fort Peck Reservoir to the base.
Boeing, which has been leasing the base for several years to conduct flight tests, will continue with its test operations there.
MARCo will maintain a small, on-site work force of less than 10 employees. Four employees who were previously employed by Valley County to support base operations will become MARCo employees.
Typically, a flight test program will span four-to-five days and include 30-to-50 Boeing employees who will fly to Glasgow from Seattle aboard the flight test aircraft. Flight test requirements are cyclical but the company anticipates there will be an average of six-to-eight flight test programs per year.
