BOEING CLARIFICATION ON MALAYSIA AIRLINES ORDERS

SEATTLE, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Malaysia Airlines will receive 24 Boeing 737s and four Boeing 747-400s on schedule this year, the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group and Malaysia Airlines jointly confirmed today, according to Boeing. None of these airplanes is being deferred.
In addition, the airline confirms its intention to receive 12 Boeing 737-400s and three 747-400s in 1994.
Malaysia Airlines currently operates 45 Boeing 737s, the second largest 737 fleet outside the United States. Many of the 737s that Malaysia Airlines has ordered are to replace 26 leased 737s now in its fleet.
The Kuala Lumpur-based airline serves 35 destinations domestically and 55 cities internationally.
