BOEHRINGER STANDARDIZES ON SIEBEL EBUSINESS APPLICATIONS.


Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL), San Mateo, Calif., a leading provider of eBusiness applications software, has announced that Boehringer Ingelheim, a leading international pharmaceutical company based in Germany, has standardized on Siebel eBusiness Applications worldwide. The company is deploying Siebel ePharma 7 -- a portfolio of Siebel eBusiness Applications tailored to the specific needs of the pharmaceutical industry -- to enable it to better evaluate customer needs, promote and target relevant products, and become more efficient in managing its business.

Boehringer Ingelheim sells its products mainly through pharmacies; however, physicians heavily influence the majority of sales. Having reliable information about these physicians' prescribing habits and making it readily available to sales representatives is critical to build relationships and manage territories better. Under Boehringer Ingelheim's previous system, this information was filed in tables, which were not fully integrated with the company's sales and marketing data. As a result, information was difficult to find, salespeople dedicated a considerable amount of time to administrative work, and the company struggled to capture and analyze field-level activity and customer information.

Boehringer Ingelheim is deploying Siebel ePharma 7 to nearly 5,000 professionals worldwide to allow them to obtain a detailed view of all physician relationships. Siebel ePharma 7 provides a central repository for all sales, marketing, and physician-level information, enabling Boehringer Ingelheim's sales, marketing, and service professionals to have access to the same comprehensive information. Marketing specialists will use Siebel ePharma 7 to target high-prescribing physicians, while sales professionals will use it to plan sales calls and efficiently manage sales territories.
