BODY FOUND IN BACKYARD IS LOCAL WOMAN.

Byline: Karen Maeshiro Staff Writer

PALMDALE - A woman whose body was found in a shallow hole covered by a piece of plywood plywood, manufactured board composed of an odd number of thin sheets of wood glued together under pressure with grains of the successive layers at right angles. Laminated wood differs from plywood in that the grains of its sheets are parallel.  in the backyard of a Palmdale residence has been identified as a 22-year-old Palmdale resident with a history of drug problems.

Huey's decomposing body was found the evening of July 10 in the 38500 block of Fourth Street East, and homicide investigators believe her body had been there for about a week.

``We've narrowed it down to about a week. We put her alive within a week of her being found,'' Sgt. Tim Miley said.

The cause of her death has not been determined due to the severe decomposition decomposition /de·com·po·si·tion/ (de-kom?pah-zish´un) the separation of compound bodies into their constituent principles.

Deputies from the Palmdale station responded to the residence because of a report of a foul smell in the area.

``She was found in the backyard in a deep lot. The residents were unaware of her presence there. They are renters, and there's a whole bunch of shrubs there,'' Miley said.

Investigators do not believe the residents had any involvement in Huey's death, Miley said.

Only 4-foot-11 and weighing barely over 100 pounds, Huey was a lifelong resident of Palmdale and has family in the area. At the time of her death, she had been living at local hotels, Miley said.

conviction for grand theft and was released in May 2004. Sheriff's records show she had been arrested most recently in the Antelope Valley on May 24 on suspicion of violating parole and was let out of jail a week later.

``She had a series of drug problems. She was on parole for drug-related offenses,'' Miley said. ``She had recently been talking about going into rehab.''

Huey was identified through a tattoo tattoo, the marking of the skin with punctures into which pigment is rubbed. The word originates from the Tahitian tattau [to mark].
