Free to Breathe

Kathryn Joosten of "Desperate Housewives" will take part in Free to Breathe Run/Walk Sunday at Lake Balboa Park in Encino. As an official warm-up race for the Los Angeles Marathon, the event features a choice of 5K and 8K runs as well as a 1.4-mile walk. A variety of prizes will be given out to top fundraisers following the race. Registration takes place 7 a.m., the runs start at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 8:35 a.m. Registration is $20 (online through Wednesday) and $25 on the day of the event. Fine day at the spa

Pamper yourself on Thursday while you fight AIDS during Spa Day, a unique fundraiser where you can visit a variety of day spas, salons and resorts that will donate at least 20 percent of the proceeds to Aid for AIDS. Spa Day also supports the prevention of homelessness for people with HIV/AIDS. The event takes place in Southern California. Run for her

Raise awareness for ovarian cancer and support the Cedars-Sinai Women's Cancer Research Institute at the hospital's third annual Run for Her 5K Run and Friendship Walk Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Food for a cause

Taste some delectable cuisine, dance the night away and raise funds for the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California at A Dish & Dance With the Stars, sponsored by the Great Chefs of Los Angeles. Celebrity hosts include television chef Jamie Gwen, George Lopez, Mario Lopez and Stacy Keibler. The event includes live and silent auctions, celebrity dancers and live music by the Bob DeSena Latin Jazz Group. A VIP reception takes place noon to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, and the main event takes place from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at CBS Studio Center, 4024 Radford Ave., Studio City.
