BODIES IDENTIFIED IN PLANE CRASH.

ROSAMOND - Two men killed in a plane crash were identified Saturday as Garrick Ballantine of Bakersfield and James Haley of Rosamond.

Their ages were unknown, the Kern County coroner's division said in a news release.

The men were killed when a single-engine Cessna 172L crashed Friday afternoon into an alfalfa alfalfa (ălfăl`fə) or lucern (lsûn`), perennial leguminous plant (Medicago sativa  field, Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), component of the U.S. Department of Transportation that sets standards for the air-worthiness of all civilian aircraft, inspects and licenses them, and regulates civilian and military air traffic through its air traffic control  spokesman Mike Fergus said.

The plane had just departed a private airstrip, said sheriff's dispatch supervisor Jodi Frederick.

The 31-year-old single-engine plane was owned by Kern Charter Service Inc., of Bakersfield.

Mark Moore Mark Moore (born March 10 1964, in London) is a British dance music record producer and DJ. He was founder of the pop band S'Express, and runs the London nightclub night " Electrogogo". , the company's maintenance manager, said he had no immediate information.

The plane had been involved in two previous accidents, in 1977 and 1998, federal authorities said. Neither was fatal, according to National Transportation Safety Board records.
