BOBO BALDE DECLARED BANKRUPT; Ex-Celt chased for cash.

FORMER Celtic star Bobo Balde has been declared technically bankrupt BANKRUPT. A person who has done, or suffered some act to be done, which is by law declared an act of bankruptcy; in such case he may be declared a bankrupt.

The decision was revealed in a legal notice in a newspaper which said that the estate of Dianbobo Balde had been sequestrated on September 7 at Hamilton Hamilton, city, Bermuda

Accountant Bryan Jackson, appointed by the court to deal with the case, said last night that the player had been sequestrated for pounds 7904 after a move by a creditor.

No further details were given but the debt is thought to relate to legal fees.

Mr Jackson said: "The nonpayment of this sum and the failure to defend the action may be the result of a misunderstanding or it may also be because Mr Balde is unaware of the debt.

"However, it has been more than a year since the debt was incurred and it was initially raised in court over four months ago.

"The usual course of action is to collect the funds by negotiation with the debtor One who owes a debt or the performance of an obligation to another, who is called the creditor; one who may be compelled to pay a claim or demand; anyone liable on a claim, whether due or to become due.  or, if that fails, through arrestment of bank accounts or sequestration sequestration

"I will be pursuing this debt and hope that Mr Balde will be alerted to this situation and act accordingly."

He said: "Technically, he has been bankrupted but he has allowed that to happen.

"Whether he really is bankrupt is a different issue."

French-born Balde, 34, signed for Celtic in 2001 and was thought to be earning around pounds 30,000 a week.

But latterly, he only made a handful of appearances after a row with the club.

He left Celtic at the end of his contract in the summer and is now a free agent.

His last known Scottish address was in Bothwell, Lanarkshire.
