``All week, I wasn't thinking about winning,'' said Hoffman, who came from behind with a 1-under 71 at Classic Club and 17-under 343 total to win the $900,000 first prize. ``I came with the attitude (that) it's just a warm-up for the year.''

Hoffman said he felt more like a survivor than a winner. He didn't think he had a shot at winning as he started the day four shots behind Justin Rose Justin Peter Rose (born 30 July 1980) is an English professional golfer.  featuring scores above par all day, he put himself in contention at No. 17.

Playing ahead of Rollins and Justin Rose and trailing the pair for the lead by two shots, Hoffman birdied the par-3, 176-yard hole. He then reached the par-5, 564-yard No. 18 in two -- featuring a 372-yard tee shot -- and sank an eagle putt just inside 26 feet to take the lead by oneshot.

``I didn't feel as bad as I thought I'd feel,'' he said. ``Obviously, there's some nerves going through your mind. I didn't know if I needed to make the putt or not because of the group behind us. But I just tried to put a good putt on it and hopefully win the hole.

``Good fortune, I did.''

When Rollins and Rose reached 18, both needed at least a birdie to force a playoff. Rollins' eagle attempt for the win from 25 feet was just short and he calmly sank his birdie putt to tie Hoffman at 17-under, while Rose earned par.

On the playoff, Rollins teed off first and sent his drive into a bunker along the right side of the fairway.

Hoffman couldn't believe what he saw.

``Unfortunately, I said, `Good shot,' '' he said, who then followed with a 366-yard drive of his own. ``I thought it was going to easily carry that bunker and I did see it go in the sand. I actually felt kind of bad that it went in the sand after I said good shot.

``I just tried to put a good swing on it. All week I hit the driver very average, I'd say, and my misses had been right. I just tried to pick out a good target and put a good swing on it and hopefully it went in the fairway.

Rollins' misfortune forced him to punch out of the bunker, leaving no chance to reach the green in two. Hoffman reached the green in two and set himself up for a 4-foot birdie attempt. He watched Rollins miss a birdie attempt from 30 feet. Hoffman the stepped up and dropped his tournament-winning putt in the cup.

Rollins opened the day twoshots behind the leaders and began the round at 4-over through seven holes. He answered back with birdies at Nos. 9 and 10 to go to 16-under.

``I kind of knew that I had a chance,'' said Rollins, who fired a 73. ``(I) didn't really know what was going on ahead of us. You know, you just figure that guys weren't making a lot of birdies, because the pins were tough, wind was tough, and it seemed like every hole was just a mental grind.''

It was a struggle all around for Rose, who had owned at least a share of the lead since the second round. He finished 4-over 76 for the day and finished oneshot behind Hoffman and Rollins at 16-under 344.

``I think the wind was playing us today,'' Rose said. ``I think it was a bit of a shame, really, because it was more survival than anything. I don't think there was much great golf being played out there.''
