BOB BALENTINE NAMED TO NASD BOARD OF GOVERNORS ATLANTA, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Bob Balentine, chairman of
Atlanta-based Balentine & Company, has been elected to the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) Board of Governors.
As the ruling body of the self-regulated brokerage industry, the NASD is charged with carrying out mandates of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The NASD is composed of 11 districts, and each elects one or two (depending on district size) members to the board of governors. The term is for three years. Balentine is one of two governors for the seventh district -- Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida. "It is the role of the NASD to assure that each broker and member firm adheres to our rules of fair practice and high ethical standards," explained Balentine. "I am pleased to assume an oversight role in helping to make sure brokers and dealers uphold these values as they interact with investors." This is not the first time Balentine has held a leadership position in the NASD. For the last two-and-a-half years, he served on the business conduct committee for the seventh district and was vice chairman for the past year. Balentine, a native of Greenville, S.C., has been nationally recognized for his achievements. He has been included in Money magazine's "All-Pro" team of the nation's 10 top stockbrokers and Town & Country magazine has named him a top 10 Blue-Chip broker. Nearly five years ago, Balentine and his son, Robert Balentine Jr., founded Balentine & Company. The firm provides investment consulting services to wealthy individuals and pension funds and corporate finance services to middle market companies. Since its founding, Balentine & Company has more than tripled assets under management, which now total approximately $350 million. -0- 11/22/91 /EDITOR'S NOTE: Portrait photography available upon request./ /CONTACT: Tracy Harbour of Harbour Communications, 404-351-7405, for Balentine & Company/ CO: Balentine & Company; National Association of Securities Dealers ST: Georgia IN: SU: PER BN-BR -- AT002 -- 6242 11/22/91 08:55 EST
