Forest Service officials cited health and safety hazards in terminating the contract with Pyramid Lake Enterprises.

``We have worked very hard to get this popular recreation facility open as soon as we could,'' said Cid Morgan, district ranger for the Forest Service's Santa Clara Mojave River Ranger District, which encompasses Pyramid. ``There was a lot of work to do in a very short period of time in order to assess and correct some of the health and safety problems that we discovered.''

The Forest Service is seeking a new concessionaire, and will hold a meeting at 11 a.m. Monday at the lake for those interested in submitting bid proposals.
