BOARD SETS HIRING FREEZE, PREPARES TO LAY OFF 670.

Ventura County supervisors ordered a hiring freeze Noun 1. hiring freeze - a freeze on hiring

 Tuesday as officials prepare to lay off 670 workers in the coming weeks to help offset a $46 million shortfall.

Pink slips should be sent to employees by June 1, because many county labor contracts require between two weeks and 30 days notice for layoffs, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Johnny Johnston said. The layoffs are slated to take effect July 1.

More than 300 unfilled positions also will be eliminated from the county's 5,000-member work force.
