BOARD PUTS MEETINGS ON INTERNET.

Parents who can't make it to the school board meetings can now catch them via the Internet.

The Las Virgenese Unified School District A unified school district is a school district which includes both primary school (kindergarten through middle school or junior high) and high school (grades 9-12). In Illinois, these districts are called unit school districts.  is the first school district locally to begin webcasting its twice-a-month meetings, beginning Tuesday. Users should access www.lvusd.k12.ca.us, then click on the Board of Education, which will give them access to the webcast.

Anyone with a computer will be able to view the meetings in real time by tapping into the school's Web site and downloading the video software for free. The Web site also will store the previous board meeting for delayed play.

``The quality isn't television quality but the audio is very clear and understandable,'' said Zimring, who noted the district had a dry run Thursday. ``It's not high-resolution television, but it certainly provides an avenue to communicate with our community.''
