BOARD INCUMBENT KAHN DIES MONDAY.

, a 13-year member of the Oak Park Unified School District Oak Park Unified School District (OPUSD) is a K-12 school district in southeast Ventura County, California, USA. It consists of six public schools in the community of Oak Park.  who was seeking a fourth term in today's election, died Monday of a heart attack at age 73.

 and Recorder, said notices of Kahn's death will be posted at all the polling locations. Votes for Kahn will be counted, and if he wins, the school district will appoint a board member.

``Bob to me was an incredible public servant,'' said Cindy Vinson, who served 11 years on the school board with Kahn. ``He served this community for many years. ... He gave his time and intellect A natural language query program for IBM mainframes developed by Artificial Intelligence Corporation. Vinson, who said she had always considered Kahn the ``historian of the board'' because of his many years as trustee, said he had an ``uncanny ability to size up a situation, step back from the discussion and give wise counsel.''

School Trustee Jan Iceland said Kahn was ``instrumental in forming our board district about 25 years ago.''

``We are very, very sorry,'' she said.

Superintendent Marilyn Lippiatt issued a statement calling Kahn a ``good friend, strong advocate and valued colleague.''

``Bob served the district since its unification (programming) unification - The generalisation of pattern matching that is the logic programming equivalent of instantiation in logic. When two terms are to be unified, they are compared.  in 1978 and was instrumental in the design and construction of the seven-campus district,'' she said.

Eileen Kahn, his wife of 33 years, said her husband believed ``there were honor students and underachievers, but that everyone deserved the time and the chance to be educated.''

Kahn was a retired district sales director for Employees Health Insurance.

In addition to his wife, Kahn is survived by a son, Artie.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Groman Eden Chapel at Eden Memorial Park in Mission Hills.
