President E. Bing Inocencio will not have his contract renewed when it expires in June, officials said Thursday.

In addition to typical college aged students, the LACCD also serves adults of all ages.  board members voted in closed session Wednesday not to renew Inocencio's three-year contract.

Shrouding the decision in mystery, district administrators and board members declined to explain why the board chose to end Inocencio's stay at the helm of the system's largest campus. He was hired in 1996.

``I can't provide that information,'' Sillers said. ``I've been told there is no comment at this time.''

Inocencio was not in his office. At his Woodland Hills home, his wife said he was not available and would be at an out-of-state conference through the weekend.

On the board's vote, she said, ``I really don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

. That's the board's decision, so . . . I don't want to talk about.''

Repeated messages left for board members were not returned. Trustee Georgia Mercer, the only board member from the Valley, said she did not have time to comment.

The decision comes at a time when the 51-year-old campus is moving rapidly forward with two ambitious and controversial money-making projects: a golf course or other venture on its 240 acres of farmland and a biotech park. The projects could bring the college more than $1 million a year each.

On Thursday, campus leaders said progress on the projects will not be interrupted by the board's decision.

``The projects are moving forward; this will not affect the projects,'' said Martin Mota, chairman of Pierce Council, the college's main governing board Noun 1. governing board - a board that manages the affairs of an institution

``We have good people involved. The Pierce Council and the upper administration will move forward with the projects . . . these were not Bing projects.''

On the board's decision, Mota said, ``It's unfortunate. I really like Bing a lot. But I think the college will move forward from this.''

Around campus, the board's action got mixed reactions.

Several people said there were complaints about Inocencio's management style and his community relations 1. The relationship between military and civilian communities.
