It was created on 23 May 2000 through the merger of Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and Paribas.  is pleased to announce the appointment of Betty Whelchel as General Counsel for North America. She is based in New York and reports to Hubert de Vauplane, Global Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, Legal and Everett Schenk, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Corporate and Investment Banking, North America.

Betty joins the firm with significant international experience, including serving four years as Global General Counsel at Deutsche Asset Management. Prior to that, Betty was the Deputy General Counsel for Deutsche Bank's New York branch. Before that she was an attorney with Shearman Sterling both in New York and Tokyo and was also an Attorney-Advisor with the U.S. Treasury U.S. Treasury
