BNA's latest newsletter covers privacy and security legal developments.

Privacy attorneys are surprised by a statement from a top FTC official saying that a company's online privacy policy also applies to offline collection and use of customer information unless the policy clearly limits its promises to the online realm, BNA Inc. reports in the lead story of new weeking information service, Privacy & Security Law Report.

While FTC officials say the FTC statement is just an extension of traditional legal principles, attorneys view it as a surprising foray on to new ground.

The new BNA Report, published for the first time January 7, provides analytical coverage of all key privacy and information security issues on the federal, state, and international levels.
