USER--Foundries requiring large flask size molding versatility and the capability to draw and handle molds in an inverted and frilly supported condition.

OPERATION--Foundries currently producing small and medium volumes of municipal castings, aluminum castings with large pockets and multiple pocket type castings using non-automated or partially automated equipment. Production of these types of castings usually involves wooden patterns and various flask sizes and heights.

PROBLEMS--Difficulty in consistently producing high density large molds with single or multiple deep pockets without breakage or soft protrusions. Additional difficulty in successfully drawing and then handling low strength molds with large green sand cores. These problems are exaggerated by the need to accommodate various flask sizes and depths. Special higher strength sands mixes are often required.

SOLUTION--BMM model BT 7 combined jolt squeeze turnover draw molding machine. This high capacity molding machine is the only turnover type molding machine that incorporates simultaneous jolting and squeezing of the mold. Patterns are drawn up from the inverted mold while the mold is fully supported from the back surface. The completed mold can then be transported to additional workstations in a fully supported manner.

BENEFITS--Improved mold quality and increased density with higher strength protrusions Molds are fully supported during pattern draw and handling, especially important for molds incorporating large green sand cores.
