BMI HONORS PRS SONGWRITERS AND PUBLISHERS AT GALA LONDON AWARDS DINNER;
 'DO YOU REMEMBER' NAMED SONG OF THE YEAR
 LONDON, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- "Do You Remember," written by Phil Collins and published by Hit & Run Music (Publishing) Ltd., was named 1991 Song of the Year at the annual BMI-PRS Awards Dinner last night. The song, recorded by Collins on his triple-platinum selling "...But Seriously" album, went to the Top 5 on the U.S. national singles charts. "Two Hearts", also written by Collins and BMI songwriter Lamont Dozier, was the 1990 Song of the Year.
 Frances W. Preston, BMI president and CEO, hosted the awards dinner in the Ballroom of the Dorchester Hotel. The annual dinner honors the PRS (Performing Right Society) songwriters, composers and publishers of the past year's most performed pop, country and motion picture music on U.S. radio and television. Joining Preston for the awards presentations were Phil Graham, BMI Director of European Relations, and Bob Musel, the organization's senior advisor.
 Five additional songs were honored for significant U.S. airplay between Oct. 1, 1989 and Nov. 1, 1990. These awards are based on BMI's unique royalty payment system which reflects musical performances contained in broadcasts of more than 500,000 hours of radio and television airtime which is measured by the organization annually.
 This year's award winning songs were "Back to Life" written by PRS members Nellee Hooper and Caron Wheeler, "Buffalo Stance," written by Neneh Cherry, Jamie Morgan and Phil Ramacon; "Cruising for Bruising", written by Basia and Danny White; "How Can We Be Lovers" with an award going to the U.K. publisher Warner Chappell Music Ltd. for the song co- written by BMI songwriter Michael Bolton, "Sowing the Seeds of Love," written by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith.
 "Back To Life," recorded by Soul II Soul featuring Caron Wheeler, was also cited as the Most Performed College Radio Song, the first time a song has been so designated at the PRS event. College radio stations, which are logged by BMI, have become a significant element in the United States in establishing individual songs and entire artist careers. Paul Kennerley's "One Man Woman," published by Rondor Music (London) Ltd. and recorded by The Judds, was cited as one of the most performed Country songs. Composers Hans Zimmer and John DuPrez were recognized for their scores to Days of Thunder and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, respectively, two of the top grossing films of the past year.
 The score for The Sheltering Sky, published by Halemount Music Ltd., was specially honored as a U.S. Golden Globe Award winner.
 BMI also announced that "Mandy," written by Scott English and Richard Kerr, and "My Sweet Lord," written by George Harrison had reached the three million performance plateau. "Can't Smile Without You" written by Chris Arnold, David Martin and Geoff Morrow, and "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were honored as two million performance songs. Sixteen songs were cited for having reached the one million performance level.
 Once a year BMI honors the most performed songs of PRS writers and publishers represented by BMI in the United States. BMI is a performing rights organization that represents thousands of songwriters, composers and publishers from around the world and in all areas of music.
