The new product provides BEA WebLogic Server and PATROL customers with an integrated management solution that supports BEA WebLogic Server applications within the BMC Software enterprise management environment. This business information infrastructure maximizes the return on investment of e-business applications by ensuring that critical business processes operate at peak performance.

PATROL for BEA WebLogic Version 1.1 is an IT operations management tool for maintaining the availability and optimizing the performance of e-business systems. The product monitors and manages server-side operations, performance and availability of production Web applications that are deployed on BEA WebLogic Server. It also benefits developers by monitoring the service infrastructure that supports their business logic. Using PATROL for BEA WebLogic, developers can monitor the state of services as they build, test and deploy new business components in the BEA WebLogic Server environment.

Primary features of PATROL for BEA WebLogic include auto-discovery of the BEA WebLogic Server environment, the components deployed in that environment, their configuration, and the licensing and other information related to the JVM (Java Virtual Machine). The solution then uses this information to build graphical console displays that monitor and manage BEA WebLogic Server components, including component instances, which are single copies of a program running in memory, such as the BEA WebLogic Server component. PATROL determines if instances are actively executing and allows the user to restart or stop those that are not performing properly. It also defines user actions for each type of component and displays parameter and environment information related to each type of component.

Availability

PATROL for BEA WebLogic 1.1, which supports BEA WebLogic 5.1, will be available in January. PATROL(R) for BEA WebLogic 1.2, which will support BEA WebLogic 6.0, will be available in the first quarter of 2001.
