Provides Significant Efficiency Improvements by Automating Problem Resolution Processes in Development and Testing

:BMC (BMC Software, Inc., Houston, TX, www.bmc.com) A leading supplier of software that supports and improves the availability, performance, and recovery of applications in complex computing environments. ) today announced that it has released an enhanced BMC AppSight System for Pre-production that is available immediately. The new BMC AppSight System enhances the core capabilities of BMC AppSight that enable software development organizations to automate and significantly accelerate the iterative process of resolving application problems during development and testing.

The new enhanced BMC AppSight includes role-based views for all stakeholders Stakeholders

All parties that have an interest, financial or otherwise, in a firm-stockholders, creditors, bondholders, employees, customers, management, the community, and the government.
, from non-technical testers, to test managers and developers. This streamlines the process for capturing, documenting, and finding the root cause of errors. Using patented software technology that is analogous to an aircraft's black box flight recorder flight recorder

Instrument that records the performance and condition of an aircraft in flight. Regulatory agencies require these devices on commercial aircraft to make possible the analysis of crashes or other unusual occurrences.
, BMC AppSight captures a full record of application execution at the time a problem occurs, so it reduces the need for time-consuming documentation, and eliminates the need for developers and testers to attempt to recreate uncovered issues multiple times throughout the analysis process.

Using the enhanced BMC AppSight System, black box technology runs in the background during functional, performance, and user acceptance testing (testing) user acceptance testing - The type of testing where monitored users determine whether a system meets all their requirements, and will support the business for which it was designed. , which may be performed manually or automatically. When a problem is detected, the full problem information is automatically saved and attached to a defect report within the defect tracking In engineering, defect tracking is the process of finding defects in a product, (by inspection, testing, or recording feedback from customers), and making new versions of the product that fix the defects.  system. Because the full application execution is captured -- including an animated screen capture, configuration, etc. -- there is little need to document the defect and no room for misinterpretation of the events leading up to the error. The developer would then access the recorded information from the defect tracking tool, open it in the BMC AppSight Console, and analyze its root cause.

The enhanced BMC AppSight System offers benefits such as:

* Reduces time developers spend on problem resolution, thus allowing more time to build more functionality, fix more defects in a given timeframe or reduce project costs and resource requirements The components of a system that are required by software or hardware. It refers to resources that have finite limits such as memory and disk. In a PC, it may also refer to the resources required to install a new peripheral device, namely IRQs, DMA channels, I/O addresses and memory .

* Increases productivity of testers, as new role-based views greatly minimize the need to document uncovered defects.

* Eliminates "irreproducible" defects and minimizes back-and-forth between development and testing, as every error is fully recorded and available with every defect report.

* Fully integrates into an organization's existing development and testing processes -- new connectors and open API Open API (often referred to as OpenAPI) is a word used to describe sets of technologies that enable websites to interact with each other by using SOAP, Javascript any other web technology.  enable easy integration with industry-leading defect tracking tools.

"When we deployed the new enhanced BMC AppSight into our testing scenarios, we were excited to observe that it exceeded our expectations." said Jon Baker Jon Baker (born June 14, 1923 in San Francisco, California) was an American football linebacker in the NFL for the New York Giants. He attended the University of California. , Software Development Manager at Tritech. "It is clear to us that BMC put a great deal of thought into this new enhanced system and definitely had its customers' testing and development needs top of mind."

The new system includes the following components:

* Role-based testing views that enable each stakeholder stakeholder n. a person having in his/her possession (holding) money or property in which he/she has no interest, right or title, awaiting the outcome of a dispute between two or more claimants to the money or property.  to access the capabilities required to get the job done. Non-technical testers may now use an extremely simple, VCR-like control panel to activate a BMC AppSight Black Box while performing any type of testing; test managers may also configure the system per test suite.

* Centralized log repository, which stores and manages all recordings in a centralized location, allowing for easy collaboration between testers and developers.

* Open interface for integrating with any defect tracking tool. Integration with IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) [R] Rational[R] ClearQuest[R] is available off-the-shelf. Additional integrations, such as with Microsoft[R] Visual Studio[R] Team System (VSTS VSTS Visual Studio Team System (Microsoft)
VSTS Voice to Skull Transmission
VSTS VLF-LF System Test Set
), will become available soon.

"The ultimate goal of BMC AppSight continues to be to optimize the development organization by automating the time-consuming, manual process of problem resolution - a process many development execs don't realize is robbing their teams of up to 30 percent of their time. We feel that this new enhanced version of BMC AppSight for Pre-production brings our customers the next level of efficiency," said Eldad Maniv, VP of product management, BMC Software.
