BMC Software Inc. (Nasdaq:BMCS) today announced its comprehensive systems management solution for Tandem at the International Tandem User Group (ITUG) conference. The INCONTROL(TM) for Tandem solution includes the following products: CONTROL-M(R) for Tandem (production and job scheduling), CONTROL-D(R) for Tandem (output), and CONTROL-SA(R) for Tandem (security administration).

Designed to handle high-volume transactions such as those processed by financial, telecommunications and healthcare institutions, Tandem is the platform of choice for companies that cannot afford to have their business transactions come to a halt. BMC Software's Service Assurance solution combines robust products with professional services to ensure that applications running on Tandem are not impacted by non-scheduled events in the enterprise.

-- CONTROL-M for Tandem, an enterprise-wide job scheduling and

production control product, provides data centers with the

automation tools to integrate Tandem systems into an

enterprise that encompasses multiple platforms including

Microsoft Windows NT, OS/390, AS/400, and all major flavors

of Unix, among others.

-- CONTROL-D for Tandem captures Tandem spool reports and

delivers parts, or entire reports, to enterprise recipients

for electronic viewing and printing. This eliminates the

expense associated with unnecessary printing, postage and

shipping. CONTROL-D for Tandem will be GA in December 1999.

-- CONTROL-SA for Tandem provides enterprise-wide security

administration support for the Tandem Safeguard user, group

and resource administration. It allows security administrators

to use a unified GUI to manage the security authorization and

access requirements of multiple Tandem nodes, as well as other

platforms and applications in the enterprise. From a single

point of control, security administrators are able to manage

the security requirements, saving time and money by reducing

the workload. Additionally, CONTROL-SA provides an

enterprise-wide view of each person's security access needs

and reduces the risk of exposing sensitive corporate

information to unauthorized parties. CONTROL-SA for Tandem

will be GA in December 1999.

Additionally, BMC Software's Disc-Files/Manager(c) (DFM)

eliminates file access and disc storage availability problems

by regularly monitoring these resources to ensure availability

-- Database Performance Management and Tuning. BMC Software

ensures optimum database performance with SQL/DataBase

Manager II (SQL/DBM) and SQL Explain Manager (SQL/EM). SQL/DBM

performs all database administration functions and data

maintenance via a Windows interface. SQL/EM is a performance

tuning tool that identifies potential bottlenecks and resource

consuming SQL statements in Tandem applications.

-- Safeguard Reports Plus (SGR+). Safeguard Reports Plus extends

Tandem's native security audit reporting tool. Security audit

trail reports from multiple systems can be merged and compiled
