BMC Software To Acquire Open Technology Limited; Company Plans to Expand Services Business in Asia Pacific Region; To Have Direct Presence in New Zealand.

In a move to expand its growing Professional Services business unit into Asia Pacific, BMC Software Inc. (Nasdaq:BMCS), the leading developer of software solutions that improve the availability, performance and recovery of business-critical applications and data, today entered into a Share Sale Agreement to acquire Open Technology Limited (OTL), New Zealand's leading enterprise systems management company.

OTL's services methodology is one that complements BMC Software's services offerings. Its methodology is based on a clear understanding of the interrelationship of the functional aspects within IT projects and the interdependence of skilled individuals to achieve quality results.

OTL has served as a distributor for BMC Software's products and provider of enterprise IT services to customers throughout New Zealand and Asia Pacific.

Founded in 1983, OTL is a privately held company. As a result, the companies have not disclosed the financial arrangements of the transaction. OTL currently employs approximately 50 people, has offices in Wellington, Auckland and Sydney, Australia and has agents in Singapore.

Ltd. and a minority interest in OTL's subsidiary Open Technology Software Ltd. that will be renamed OTL Software Ltd.
