BMC Software Partners with Ki NETWORKS and New Dimension Software to Create a Comprehensive POLYCENTER Solution.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1998--Houston-based BMC Software Inc. (Nasdaq:BMCS) today announced the availability of a new migration solution for CA POLYCENTER designed to address the transition needs of POLYCENTER customers. The solution resulted from a partnership within BMC Software's PATROL(R) Developer Network (PDN(TM)) between Ki NETWORKS, New Dimension Software and BMC Software. The integrated solution has four products that address the four POLYCENTER components.

The complete POLYCENTER migration solution is made possible through the combination of BMC Software's PATROL Knowledge Module(TM) (KM) for Unix, PATROL KM(TM) for OpenVMS and BEST/1(R) products; Ki NETWORKS' Command Line Interface Manager (CLIM) and New Dimension Software's CONTROL-M.

BMC Software's BEST/1 supplies the Performance Advisor component by proactively measuring, monitoring, analyzing, predicting and reporting on the performance and capacity of centralized and distributed systems and networks. Console Management Through CLIM

CLIM provides an alternative for Compaq customers looking to replace their existing PCM/VCS products, the tool that gives Operations Staff direct access to any console no matter the network's state or where they are, the means to remove the console CRT required for each system/device. Customers will have the option of purchasing CLIM or the PATROL KM for CLIM product. The PATROL KM for CLIM will provide integration with the PATROL Console. CLIM is available today from Ki NETWORKS. Ki NETWORKS, based in Cary, N.C., was founded to meet the advanced connectivity and management needs of the large installed base of Compaq/DIGITAL users.
