BMC Software Honors Nine Companies with Partnership in IT Excellence Awards.

BMC Software Inc. (Nasdaq:BMCS) today recognized the winners of its prestigious Partnership in IT Excellence Awards. The awards were presented to nine leading companies from various industries including education, financial services, and insurance companies. The companies awarded include the University of Connecticut, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Keystone Financial, Regions Financial Corporation, Amica Mutual, and American United Life Insurance. For the first time, three international organizations also received this distinction -- Lufthansa Systems of Germany, Telenor DataServices from Norway and Metro-Richelieu, a Canadian food and drug distributor.

The "new" BMC Software -- the combination of recent acquisitions BGS, Boole & Babbage and New Dimension Software -- is marshaling its combined resources to aggressively help customers obtain rapid ROI as the application management stakes become greater. The nine companies received the "Partnership in IT Excellence" award for their innovative implementation of IT process automation technologies. The award recipients were honored in front of their peers at Viewpoints '99, New Dimension Software's 10th Annual International User Conference. In what was undoubtedly one of the conference's highlights, representatives from each of the organizations received an award for their achievements in IT excellence in front of 500 IT professionals.

Powerful Automation Technologies Effect Business Gains

"CONTROL-M(R) has had a tremendous impact on our productivity. In the past we ran approximately 85,000 to 95,000 jobs per year. In 1998, we processed 125,000 jobs," said Operations Manager David Batts. "Another significant benefit: We gained an additional 800 hours of CPU time."

For example, in addition to receiving the Partnership in IT Excellence Award, Norway's premier telecommunications and IT services company, Telenor DataServices (TDS), was named in a Gartner Group study as being 50 percent more cost effective than the average data center managing the same workload. One contributing factor is TDS' automated operations and the tools used to improve their customer service.
