From its global user conference, Learning Universe, BMC Software, Inc. (NYSE:BMC), the leading provider of enterprise management, today announced its first Certified Engineering program for PATROL(R) for Service Level Management (SLM) which empowers partners to deliver post-sales implementation services. With this certification, BMC Software is offering -- for the first time -- training around its award-winning PATROL for SLM solution, enabling integrators and VARs to address their client's business needs of assuring 24 x 365 availability.

The certification program now allows customers to have access to BMC Software solutions and methodology through their own IT provider, which means they won't have to change how and where they make their IT purchases. In addition, the certification provides customers with the assurance that individuals with whom they consult are BMC Software trained and certified and empowers partners to encapsulate PATROL for SLM methodology and implementation skills within their own branded SLM practices.

Certification exams are delivered worldwide at more than 3,500 Prometric Testing centers in 128 countries including Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) as well as Asia Pacific (AP). The Certified Engineer Certification for PATROL(R) for SLM is an extension of BMC Software's overwhelmingly successful Certified Professional designation introduced last year. In the year 2000 in North America alone, over 178 partner technical individuals became BMC Software Certified Professionals in areas such as Server Management and Security Management. In addition to that, BMC Software Solution Providers with Certified Professionals (BMCS-CP) on staff averaged four-and-a-half times the revenue of those without certifications.

The Certified Engineer for PATROL for SLM was developed in response to partner and customer demand for better access to SLM technologies and post-sales implementation methodologies.
