(Nasdaq:BMCS) today announced PATROL(R) for Performance Management, a powerful family of solutions from its recently integrated PATROL 2000 product line, that provides current and historic performance analysis and reporting of business-critical systems and applications. In addition to its comprehensive current and historical performance analysis capabilities, the product family gives customers highly advanced service level management and reporting capabilities, allowing them to keep end-users and top decision-makers better informed about the service levels and performance being delivered to users.

The product includes comprehensive aggregation features as well as unique statistical capabilities to deliver the utmost in exception management -- the ability to determine and isolate normal and abnormal performance and responsiveness. The results of analysis done by PATROL Performance Manager are also available to optional add-on PATROL for Prediction and Capacity Management solutions to predict the impact of business change on performance and responsiveness. The solution provides the essential tools to manage service level agreements (SLAs) and optimize performance.

Combining the software, services and methodologies from the Service Assurance Center(TM) by BMC Software (SA Center((TM))) with the features found in PATROL for Performance Management, IT professionals also can accurately capture the end-user experience and produce criteria suitable for measuring SLAs. By extending the reporting architecture through an SA Center implementation, a customer can define flexible calendars for service schedules accounting for service availability, performance targets and planned maintenance windows. Measurement of end-to-end response time is calculated using synthetic or robotic transactions that can be executed from each location on selected time intervals.

PATROL Performance Manager uses technology formerly found in the BEST/1(R) product line to maximize data collection capabilities. All BMC Software customers who previously licensed BEST/1 will be given a cost-free 100 percent functionality upgrade to PATROL for Performance Management.

Via the PATROL Performance Manager, PATROL for Performance Management solutions access the data collected in base PATROL solutions across multiple applications and databases and place it into a central repository. The central repository integrates the information, enabling customers to leverage the breadth of information collected for true enterprise-scope analysis and reporting.

Two specialized views of the performance and service information are provided within the single PATROL Performance Manager product. The Service Reporting component focuses on service level-related information including service level agreements, response times and service availability. The Visualizer component focuses on performance-related analysis and reporting. Both reporting capabilities are rich in functionality, scalable to the enterprise level, customizable to meet specific needs and are configurable to utilize the common provided database for information storage, query and programmatic retrieval.

PATROL for Performance Management is currently available for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, Unix, Oracle, Sybase, Informix, SAP R/3 and custom provided application environments. The PATROL Performance Manager is priced at $5,000. Pricing for PATROL for Performance Management solutions starts at $200 for PATROL for Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-Perform.
