The issue came up for discussion at the board meeting of the General Organisation of Sea Ports (GOP). Board chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired the meeting. Shaikh Daij observed "The BLZ project will stimulate foreign direct investment into Bahrain, create a large number of jobs, and serve as a catalyst for the growth of the logistics industry in Bahrain." The board reviewed the recent developments with regard to the BLZ project. The board reviewed the selection and screening process of the applications. The criteria followed for screening process was also explained which ensured that local and international businesses were allocated plots in the Zone.
