BLUMKIN TO COACH CSUN WOMEN'S WATER POLO TEAM.Byline: Daily News Stuart Blumkin, a former water polo coach at Harvard-Westlake High in Studio City, has been named Cal State Northridge's first women's water polo coach. Blumkin, who begins Aug. 13, was Harvard-Westlake's junior varsity and assistant varsity coach. He also coached at Santa Monica College Santa Monica College was first opened in 1929 as Santa Monica Junior College. Current enrollment is 32,000 students in more than 90 fields of study. The college also has one of the largest international student populations of any community college in the US, with approximately from 1979-81 and from 1983-94, winning three Western State Conference titles, earning four coach-of-the-year honors and producing seven All-America players. He also coached the United States' water polo teams in the Maccabiah Games in Israel in 1989, '93 and '97. ``He has considerable experience coaching and playing,'' CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge athletic director Dick Dull said in a statement, ``and brings to us a comprehensive understanding of the sport to develop a successful program.'' Women's water polo is a spring sport, so CSUN will join the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation is a college athletic conference whose member teams are located in the western United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I. in time for the 2002 season.
