BLUE WRISTBANDS REMIND KIDS OF DRUNK-DRIVING TOLL BRACELET SALES ALSO TO HELP FINANCE MEMORIAL IN PARK.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - Some people wear rubber bands around their wrists to help them remember. A new blue elastic band on the wrists of local students and parents is a promise they'll never forget.

Launched on Wednesday at Canyon High School Canyon High School can refer to:
  • Canyon High School (Anaheim) in Anaheim, California
  • Canyon High School (Santa Clarita), in Santa Clarita, California
  • Canyon High School (Canyon, Texas), in Canyon, Texas
 during a presentation that focused on the dangers and effects of driving under the influence of alcohol, the royal-blue wristbands emblazoned with ``kNOw more'' are a fund-raiser for the construction of the Santa Clarita Youth Memorial in the city's Central Park.

``The wristbands are meant to serve as a reminder to the community to always drive safe and to vow that no more young lives will be lost because of reckless acts on the road,'' said city spokeswoman Gail Ortiz.

``We're hoping to sell as many as we can,'' said Adele MacPherson of the city's Community Services Department, which is coordinating wristband wristband An identifying bracelet attached to a Pt's wrist at the time of admission to a health care facility, which may be the only identifier used during a person's stay in a hospital  distribution. ``Each high school will start out with 200 in adult and youth sizes, and we'll go from there.''

Mr. Bob Vincent has been the school's principal ever since it opened in 2004.  and at City Hall. Additional donations toward the memorial can be made at those locations.

Councilman Frank Ferry, who is spearheading the project, touted the wristbands at a City Council meeting. He said organizers hope to raise at least $10,000 with the wristbands, to be added to the $15,000 already raised by students and the city's Blue Ribbon blue ribbon

``This project is a grass-roots effort to serve to remember Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  youth who have died in traffic-related collisions,'' Ferry said. ``It (the memorial) will also provide a safe and centralized location for the community to mourn these youth and to raise awareness so that future deaths may be prevented.''
