``I'm lifting boxes while I talk on the phone with you - I hope that's OK,'' said the group's president, Tina Perez. ``We want to get our first holiday mailing out.''

The Blue Star Mothers will be collecting items to send to the troops for the holidays through Dec. 15. Bins have been placed outside the Wal- Mart stores in Stevenson Ranch Stevenson Ranch, California (in the 91381 ZIP Code) is a Los Angeles County, USA, unincorporated community west of Santa Clarita a few miles south of Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park. The Stevenson Ranch fountain was redone in 2007.  and Porter Ranch for those who would like to contribute.

But the holiday deadline won't stop these women from collecting for those serving overseas. They send mailings out all year long and are always in need of donations.

By ``kids,'' Perez, of course, means anyone serving in the military.

``They're still our kids over there - that's how we think of them.''

The Blue Star Mothers recently began a new program called Operation Dignity, which allows them to send pajamas pajamas
