Nikki attended West High in Bakersfield, California and later went on to play for UCLA.

Pluimer sent the game into overtime with an offensive rebound and putback to tie the score at 80 with 12 seconds remaining in regulation. UCLA (12-8, 7-4) led 69-62 with 12:07 remaining, but Cal (14-7, 6-5) went on a 13-2 run over the next six minutes to take a four-point lead.
