CANYON COUNTRY - Filling up the tank costs an arm and a leg these days, but at a Shell station Friday, customers were asked to pay in blood.

Jose Moran, 36, of Canyon Country said he spotted the blood donor sign after filling his tank, but rolled up his sleeve anyway.

``I did it because of the hurricane,'' he said. ``I thought this was the right thing to do.''
