Lura Bleiberg has been named the new girls' volleyball coach at Thousand Oaks High School, the school announced Thursday.

The former Royal, Moorpark College and San Francisco State player returns to Ventura County after spending the past five years coaching in Medford, Ore.

Most recently, she served as an assistant to Ron Beick, a former Lancer coach, in Medford.

Football: Signups for the 1997 Agoura/Oak Park Youth Eagle football and cheerleading program are set for Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Ralph's market on Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Kanan Road in Agoura Hills.

The program will include a bantam division (ages 8 to 10) for the first time. The other age group is 11 to 14.Cheerleaders, ages 8 to 14, are needed.

Soccer: Daily News all-area player Elizabeth Christensen, from Moorpark High School, will attend Cal Lutheran in the fall.

Softball: Royal High School outfielder Andrea Loveless has signed a national letter of intent to play softball next fall at Boston University.

Loveless, an All-Marmonte and All-Ventura County player last year, is the only senior left for the Highlanders after five players were suspended from the team for disciplinary reasons.

Track: Agoura's Sarah Chulack said she will walk on at USC.

Baseball: Eric Blackwell went 3 for 3, including a home run to lead the Mustang league Dodgers past the Red Sox 7-4 in a Simi Youth baseball game.

Adam Blazej, Matt Schrupp, Travis Hargrove and Conner Johnston all had hits for the Dodgers.

Nick Penneri had a triple, Shaun Hockenberry and Nick Dingman each hit doubles for the Red Sox.

Baseball: Timely hitting by Tony Fils and Brandon Grice sparked the Bronco Rockies to a 5-3 win over the White Sox.

Kevin Ray had two RBI to lead the Rockies.

Austin Klimusko hit a grand slam to lead the Pinto Angels over the Brewers 18-6.

Chris Rock hit a three run home run.

Bobby Geiger went 2 for 2 for the Brewers.

Running: The annual 5K/10K run to benefit the Fillmore-Piru Boys & Girls Club is Saturday. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the race starting at 7:30.
