Craig Martin Craig Martin (born July 15, 1957 in Niagara Falls, Ontario) is a former Canadian national soccer team player.

Martin made 6 'A' international appearances for Canada, 4 in 1983 and 2 more in 1984.
, 27, was confronted by up to six masked men who smashed down his front door on a newhousing estate in Garston.

The gang threatened Mr Martin, and his partner Suzanne Schofield - the cousin of glamour model Danielle Lloyd - with guns at the property in Swansea Close.

But the homeowner allegedly plunged a knife into the back of one of the gang, and was later detained de·tain

 on suspicion of assault.

He was questioned about the incident, but at this stage, Mr Martin has made no formal complaint.

The injured man, 21, who was treated at the Royal Liverpool Hospital Liverpool Hospital is a 660-bed public hospital located in south western Sydney, Australia. It is a teaching hospital of the South Western Sydney Clinical School (SWSCS) of the University of New South Wales (UNSW). , was arrested on suspicion of robbery when his condition improved.

Police say he is also refusing to make a complaint and he has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Their silence is hampering the investigation, but other lines of enquiry including forensic tests could lead to charges.

The ECHO understands that a well-known Liverpool criminal family is behind the raid which may have prompted the lack of cooperation.

Detectives have arrested two more men on suspicion of robbery; one, 20, who was with the injured man at hospital, and another, 20, apprehended on Garston Old Road.

After the stabbing in the early hours of December 5, the gang escaped in Mr Martin's silver Audi A3 which was found later abandoned in nearby Lumley Street.

The incident has raised considerable public debate about how much force a homeowner is legally allowed to use when confronted by intruders on their property.

Victim campaigners said people should be entitled to go to lengths that they believed necessary and justified to protect themselves and their family.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
