Co. was sued in federal court by African-American hotel workers who claim they are discriminated against in hiring and promotions at Disney-owned hotels in Florida.

The class action filed Friday cites an internal report on minority hiring that found the Burbank-based company hired fewer African-Americans and other minorities for managerial and supervisory positions than the number of qualified and available minority workers. However, the number of minority workers in ``menial'' jobs, including laundry assistants and housekeepers, is above average, the report found.

``We deny that categorically,'' said Tom Deegan, vice president of corporate communications Corporate communications is the process of facilitating information and knowledge exchanges with internal and key external groups and individuals that have a direct relationship with an enterprise.  for Disney.Deegan refused to comment further.

The four workers who filed the lawsuit on behalf of an unknown number of minority workers say qualified minorities are slighted in pay and bonuses and in hiring and promotion. Also, the suit claims a computer system used to select resumes for consideration uses a keyword search that is based on white culture, and a personality test gives white workers an advantage.
