Urstadt Biddle Properties Inc. announced the signing of a long-term lease with BJ's Wholesale Club BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. NYSE: BJ is a membership-only warehouse club chain operating in the East Coast of the United States, as well as in the state of Ohio. History  for approximately 107,000 s/f at The Dock Shopping Center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  in Stratford, Connecticut Stratford is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States, located on Long Island Sound at the mouth of the Housatonic River. It was founded by Puritans in 1639.

The population was 49,976 at the 2000 census.

James Aries of Urstadt Biddle and Jack Dowling of BJ's handled the lease negotiations.

BJ's will build a new store in the approximate location of the former Bradlees department store. Demolition will begin in the spring with the new store expected to open in the fall of 2007. BJ's plans to operate a typical warehouse club concept at the location.

Commenting on the development, Willing Biddle, president of Urstadt Biddle Properties, said, "Since our purchase of the property in 2005, we have been working to bring the right kind of retail anchor to fill the vacancy left by Bradlees in 2001. BJ's commitment to build a warehouse club among existing retailers such as Staples, Petco, and KB Toys K•B Toys (previously known as Kay Bee Toys) is a chain of mall-based retail toy stores in the United States. It was founded in 1922 by the Kaufman brothers. It currently operates 605 stores in 44 U.S. states, Puerto Rico as well as Guam.  is tremendous news for the property.

"Typically, a BJ's store generates over 1 million shopper visits a year which will make The Dock Shopping Center an even more attractive destination. This is the culmination of our property redevelopment. Last year, we successfully converted a former office building on the property to a new casual themed restaurant called Redfin.
