BJ's Wholesale Club Reports August Sales.NATICK, Mass. -- BJ's Wholesale Club BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. On a comparable club basis, sales increased by 4.5% for the month of August, including a contribution from sales of gasoline of approximately 1.1%. The Company provided the following additional information regarding August sales: Comparable club sales increased in all major markets with the highest increase in the Southeast region. Comparable club sales results were strongest in week two and softest in week four. Excluding sales of gasoline, August traffic was approximately flat, due in part to the Labor Day Labor Day, holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada on the first Monday in September to honor the laborer. It was inaugurated by the Knights of Labor in 1882 and made a national holiday by the U.S. Congress in 1894. calendar shift versus last year, and the average transaction amount rose by approximately 4%.
