BJ'S Wholesale Club, Inc. Announces Management Changes.

NATICK, Mass. -- BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. (NYSE: BJ) today announced that Paul M. Bass has been elected executive vice president, merchandising. Mr. Bass has 35 years of retail experience, including 15 years in a succession of merchandising positions with BJ's Wholesale Club, most recently as senior vice president, general merchandise manager of food and consumables. Karen L. Stout, executive vice president, merchandising since 2004, has left the Company to join Longs Drug Stores Corporation, based in Walnut Creek, California.

Commenting on the management change, BJ's president and CEO Mike Wedge, said, "We are very fortunate to have someone of Paul's exceptional experience and leadership ability. He is a true club merchant with direct experience running both food and general merchandise businesses. Paul has made many contributions to BJ's success over the years, not the least of which is the development of talented and capable merchants to succeed him. In his new position, Paul's facility for building executive talent will continue to be a key asset for BJ's as he guides the next generation of BJ's merchant leaders, Brian Riccio Richard Wilson and Bruce Graham, our newly appointed senior vice president, general merchandise manager."

Mr. Wedge continued, "We are grateful to Karen Stout for her contributions over the past two years in helping to build a member-centric merchant organization. We wish her success in her new endeavor."

The Company also announced that Bruce Graham has been promoted to senior vice president, general merchandise manager. Mr. Graham has 21 years of experience with BJ's, most recently as vice president, divisional merchandise manager, reporting to Mr. Bass.
