MARKET LOGIC: Technology shares lifted the Nasdaq market to a third straight record Wednesday, but blue-chip issues slumped again as the latest economic news spurred some profit taking on November's rally. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 29.07 to 6,499.34, its first two-day losing streak in more than a month.

AEROSPACE WORK: Faced with an onslaught of new orders, Boeing Co. is in talks with less fortunate McDonnell Douglas Corp. to get some help building airplanes. McDonnell Douglas reportedly might build a larger version of the Boeing 767, a two-engine widebody plane that carries about 250 passengers. Another project may involve designing the tail section for a new, larger version of the 747 jumbo jet. Boeing has a backlog of 1,287 commercial planes on order, compared with a backlog of 1,079 a year ago.

BREAD MIX RECALL:Pillsbury Co. is recalling some packages of its Date Quick Bread Mix because they might contain walnuts and almonds not listed on the packaging. The mislabeled Pillsbury Date Quick Bread Mix could cause a severe allergic reaction in consumers sensitive to almonds or walnuts. The product poses no other health risk. No illness has been reported. The company said it is recalling a small number of 1-pound, 0.6-ounce packages with production codes beginning with the five characters C6M20. NETWORK EQUIPMENT: Semiconductor giant Intel Corp. has made a $4 million investment in Chatsworth-based MRV Communications, a specialist in computer network equipment and fiber-optic transmission products. Intel paid $20 a share - a 14 percent premium over MRV's closing price Wednesday - for 200,000 newly issued shares and has warrants to buy an added 500,000 shares at the same price, which would give Intel ownership of 3 percent of MRV. Stock of MRV gained $2.75 to $20.25 after trading as high as $22 on the Nasdaq with more than 1.16 million shares changing hands. MRV and Intel have worked together on local area network switching products in the past year.

INTERNATIONAL TRADE: International trade through Los Angeles rose 14 percent to $80.9 billion during the first half of 1996, according to the quarterly CMC-TradeWeek Regional Trade Report. The increase maintains Los Angeles' position as the nation's busiest customs district, but the gap over New York is narrowing. New York trade soared 20.7 percent to $76.6billion.

SNEAKER JOBS: Santa Monica-based L.A. Gear announced it will cut 170 of its 310 domestic employees due to continued operating losses. The sneaker maker will take between $28 million and $33 million of restructuring charges against earnings to account for the costs of the moves, which will also include reducing the size of its headquarters and distribution center in Ontario and cutting back its European operations. Stock of L.A. Gear was up 12.5 cents to $2.375 on the New York Stock Exchange.

PIRATED VIDEO DISCS: Chinese authorities have shut down a pirate video disc manufacturer, seizing a $2 million disc-making machine and 60,000 pirated discs. The illegal operation was set up in April in a farmer's house in Panyu, Guangdong, the southern Chinese province where many pirate disc makers are suspected of operating. China has promised to step up enforcement against manufacturers of pirated goods under a March 1995 agreement with the United States to stamp out illegal production of American movies, music and computer software.
