 TO HIRE MORE FOR VENTURA COUNTY: GTE California, which has hired 1,200 new employees and transferred 1,000 more workers into new jobs since the beginning of the year, announced plans Tuesday to hire 600 more employees by year-end at its Ventura County offices. To help find candidates, GTE will host a Career Fair on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Oxnard Megacenter.

The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and southern China.  Co. Vice Chairman Roy Disney and his wife sold 1.22 million of the entertainment company's shares, worth about $100 million, last month as the stock fell from record highs, the company said. The sale, about a sixth of Roy Disney's holdings, is his largest ever and is second only to $138 million in options exercised by Chairman Michael Eisner in 1992.
