 completed its speedy recovery Monday and soared into the record books with a 143-point surge that lifted the indicator above 7,200 for the first time. The Dow, which traded fairly flat until the final hour, rose 143.29 to 7,214.49. It was the fourth biggest point gain ever and its first close above both 7,100 and 7,200.

TRAVEL COMPANY TO PAY $3 MILLION FINE: A Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  travel company accused of making false promises to would-be agents has agreed to pay them back $3 million under a settlement announced Monday by federal regulators. The Federal Trade Commission said World Class Network in Irvine and its World Class Travel affiliate in Calabasas will give refunds to more than 51,000 consumers who bought costly travel tutorials.

DIANA CORP. ANNOUNCES RESULTS: Calabasas-based Diana Corp. expects to report revenue from its Sattel Communications unit to be $1 million for its fourth quarter ended March 31, off 77 percent from the prior quarter. The phone-equipment maker also said it borrowed $1.5 million in a short-term loan and is trying to sell the buildings and land from its former meat and seafood seafood

PREMIERE REPORTS EARNINGS: Premiere Radio Networks Premiere Radio Networks is a radio syndication and preparation company based in the United States. It is currently the largest syndication company in the United States based on popularity of programming.  Inc. reported first-quarter earnings of $652,853, or 7 cents a share, off slightly from earnings of $665,580, 8 cents a share, in the 1996 period. Sales for the Sherman Oaks-based producer of syndicated radio programming were up 49 percent to $8.24 million. Premiere, which recently agreed to be bought out by Jacor Communications Inc., noted that its cash flow rose 63 percent to $2.03 million. Premiere stock was unchanged at $17.25.
