Ahmanson & Co. Irwindale-based Ahmanson, the largest U.S. thrift, had sought a May 6 date after Great Western said it would postpone the meeting indefinitely. Ahmanson, which has a $6.02 billion offer on the table based on Friday's stock price, was not able to obtain a court order to compel Great Western to meet earlier.
