SPELLING NAMES PRESIDENT: TV producer Spelling Entertainment named veteran executive Peter H. Bachmann president to oversee day-to-day operations, filling a post that had been vacant since March 1996 when Steven Berrard departed. Bachmann, who joined Spelling in 1993, has been executive vice president, Office of the President, since October 1994. Bachmann previously worked for Imagine Films Entertainment and NBC NBC

 TAKES OVER 20TH CENTURY VIDEOS: 20th Century Fox has combined its domestic and international home video businesses and named the new unit 20th Century Home Entertainment. Jeffrey Yapp, who had headed the foreign operations, was named president of the new unit, which generates nearly $2 billion in annual sales. Yapp, 38, will also oversee the worldwide marketing and distribution of Fox Interactive products. Fox's video business had been headed until last week by Robert DeLellis, who left after 13 years.
