The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's board of directors recently appointed Russel Goldsmith, chairman and CEO of City National Bank, to represent the 12th Federal Reserve District of the Federal Advisory Council. Goldsmith also serves as president and CEO of City National's parent company, City National Corp., and has directed both since 1978. In 2002, Forbes magazine ranked Goldsmith as one of America's 10 best CEOs.

The FAC consists of one member, generally from the commercial banking industry, from each of the 12 reserve bank districts and ordinarily meets four times a year with the board of governors in Washington, D.C., to discuss economic and banking matters. Goldsmith will begin his one-year term in January.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group recently named Thomas Gewecke as its new president of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. In his new position, Gewecke will be responsible for identifying and capitalizing on opportunities in the emerging digital markets worldwide for all Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group's assets. He will drive development and execution of strategic activities in the wireless, online, transactional VOD/PPV and electronic-sell-through sectors. Gewecke most recently served as executive vice president of global digital business for Sony BMG Music Entertainment, where he headed worldwide digital business development and oversaw the creation of new digital ventures. Prior to Sony, he was senior vice president of business development in the digital services group for Sony Music Entertainment Inc. He also held the position of publisher of the PC World Online Network at International Data Group.

The Santa Clarita Valley Auto Dealers Association recently named Santa Clarita-based Choppe Advertising Group as its agency of record. As the agency of record, Choppe and its partners will direct the association's advertising and public relations efforts. One percent of all sales tax paid will be returned to the city of Santa Clarita's general fund. In the past, the city has used the revenue the auto center generates to fund additional Sheriff's Department patrol units, a community center in downtown Newhall, to fund additional parking and other public safety and recreational needs. The Santa Clarita Valley Auto Dealers Association is a nonprofit organization that represents 13 dealerships in the Valencia Auto Center. Some of Choppe's other clients include Vino100, SCV Bank, The Sanctuary Group and Rick Jackson Motorsport Racing.

J. Paul Getty Museum Director Michael Brand recently named Greg Britton as the new publisher of the J. Paul Getty Trust, effective in February. In his new post, Britton will oversee all publishing activities for the museum and will work with the Getty Research Institute and the Getty Conservation Institute on program publications. He will lead a staff of 47 employees and be responsible for releasing 40 to 50 publications a year covering the fields of art, photography, archaeology, architecture, conservation and the humanities. Britton comes to the Getty from the Minnesota Historical Society Press and Borealis Books, where he served as publisher since 1999. Before his tenure with the Minnesota Historical Society, Britton was director of Madison House Publishers, a scholarly press then based in Madison, Wis. He is also active in the American Association of University Presses and the Association of American Publishers.
